Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Identity data: Full name, date of birth, government-issued ID (where required for KYC)
• Contact data: Phone number, email address, delivery address
• Transaction data: Deal amounts, payment references, escrow records, delivery confirmations
• Instagram data: Instagram user ID, message content, and product screenshots shared with our Instagram bot
• Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps
• Financial data: Mobile money or card details processed via Paystack (we do not store card numbers directly)

• To create and manage escrow deals between buyers and sellers
• To process payments and release funds upon delivery confirmation
• To verify your identity in compliance with Bank of Ghana AML/KYC requirements
• To communicate with you about your deals via SMS, email, or Instagram DM
• To detect and prevent fraud
• To improve our platform and user experience
• To comply with applicable Ghanaian law, including the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)

We process your personal data on the following bases under Ghana's Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843):

• Contract performance: Processing necessary to execute your escrow deal
• Legal obligation: AML/KYC compliance required by the Bank of Ghana
• Legitimate interests: Fraud prevention and platform security
• Consent: For marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time

We share your information only with:

• Paystack: Our payment processor, for transaction processing
• Stanbic Bank Ghana: Our escrow account bank
• Delivery partners: Your delivery address shared with dispatch riders to fulfil your order
• Anthropic: Product information extracted from screenshots via the Claude API (no personal identity data is shared)
• Regulatory authorities: Bank of Ghana, Financial Intelligence Centre, or law enforcement where required by law

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

When you send a message or screenshot to our Instagram account (@paywithtruce), we process:

• Your Instagram-scoped user ID (a numeric identifier, not your username)
• The content of your message and any images you send
• Product information extracted from screenshots using AI

This data is used solely to create your escrow deal and respond to your message. Image content is processed by Anthropic's Claude API and is subject to Anthropic's data processing terms.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a minimum of 7 years following the last transaction, as required by Ghanaian financial regulations. Deal records and transaction data are retained for regulatory audit purposes.

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act 2012, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Object to processing for marketing purposes
• Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana

We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, row-level security on our database, and access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only. Our platform undergoes regular security assessments.

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to use the platform.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of Truce after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
